John T. (JT) Grimes, PE
Founder and CEO
John Thomas (JT) Grimes, PE has worked for more than 30 years as a private consultant for municipalities, developers, contractors, and private property owners on an extensive variety of stormwater management projects. Mr. Grimes also serves as a sub-consultant for engineering firms where his expertise complements and/or completes project design teams.
As a graduate of North Carolina State University (BSCE – 1990, Master of Civil Engineering – 1992), Mr. Grimes has served as both design engineer and project manager on more than 100 projects involving dams. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.
Mr. Grimes is a recipient of the prestigious Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) Regional Award of Merit given annually to individuals or organizations throughout the United States making outstanding contributions to dam safety on a regional level. Mr. Grimes became the first individual in private consulting to receive the award for the Southeast region of the United States.
Jonathan Grimes
Project Manager
Jonathan Grimes is a Construction Management graduate and serves as Project Manager at Grimes Contracting. He began working part-time with the company in 2017 while attending Appalachian State University, gaining early hands-on experience in grading and sitework. After graduating, Jonathan went on to work full-time for a large commercial construction company, where he built a strong foundation in project management and large-scale operations.
Since joining Grimes Contracting full-time in 2025, Jonathan has overseen all new projects from start to finish. He specializes in grading and stormwater management and brings several years of combined field and office experience—including estimating and contract administration. His well-rounded background allows him to manage each phase of a project with precision, professionalism, and a commitment to quality.
Andrew Maddox
Office Manager
Andrew Maddox is the Business Manager at Grimes Contracting, where he’s been keeping things running behind the scenes for over 8 years. Based in Clemmons, NC, Andrew handles everything from accounting and payroll to insurance compliance, making sure the business stays on track and running efficiently. Known for being thorough and reliable, he takes pride in supporting the team and helping projects move forward smoothly.
